Solutions

  1. Shortened, Split Work Shifts
    • Description:
      • Short the work shifts into the maximum productive time period, and let people work at multiple places. Example: John works as a developer for 4 hours in the morning while he is still thinking and full of energy, after that, he works as a gardener for 3 hours doing mostly manual work and lifting.
    • What problems does it solve and how:
      • Productivity - people are working the amount of hours they are productive. + the company needs to pay the workers overall less for the same work, thus its more efficient and there is less need to fully lay off people.
      • Afternoon Inefficiency - gives the chance for people to do office jobs at the start of the day and more manual work in the afternoon.
      • Economic Instability - more work balance and economic stability, as the workers are less afraid to be laid off, and if someone does get laid off, the effect is minimal as he still has other part jobs.
